Give to Bill Maher and Friends!
Dear Bill Maher, Fran Lebowitz, Yuval Harari and Ian Bremmer,
Some of you (cough all of you) don't make it easy to send you an email so I have to do it this way.
I enjoyed last night's Real Time. Some thoughts:
1. When artificial intelligence isn't stupid I will be more afraid. After Googling a complicated question, the AI return is not even close to what I want to know.
AI is built by a human and most humans aren't very smart. To teach anything well you have to be smart. So an AI being taught by a not-as-smart-as-me human can't be trained to outsmart me.
Most importantly computers don't want to have sex. As you explained well Bill, that's humans' number one concern. Therefore I don't expect ever to be fooled or manipulated by something that doesn't at all understand my motivations. To mimick a human convincingly an AI would have to get horny.
2. Fran your dissolve the Supreme Court idea was very silly. That's what dictators do. "My dictator" doesn't make it better. So while getting rid of Clarence and Sam and Brett would make me happy too, doing it like Trump would do everything if we let him is not the answer.
3. The United Nations should be moved to Chad. It will help the economy of a central African mess and give the hookers an exotic place to visit.
The United Nations has no teeth and no sovereign nation wants it to have them. We don't want it to have them. As you so well put it Bill I think, there are a lot of morally worse-than-us countries in the world and they make up the United Nations.
4. Your New Rule was good. But isn't Gen Z just being obstreperous and against the Establishment like all college students and young people are? Were Baby Boomers any better (at least in the eyes of the older generations?)
I am not defending the lack of the Citizenship Test being a requirement to graduate. But I think of Dazed and Confused. Their hippy teacher preaching to them about the white men Founding Fathers. All the kids ignored her and waited for the bell so they could get drunk and laid.
It's simply the cool thing to be woke. But soon Gen Z will be sucking on the corporate teat too.
Well, not if I can stop it.
