This is Wolf Alexander, independent for Congress for our district.
A question: if you were an unaccompanied female would you want to hang out in the north west and west sides of the Washington Square Park?
How about after dark?
I am going to fix that. Your help would help.
To be blunt: I am going to get rid of those "dangerous" men.

To the NYPD reading this:
Your help is not needed where you're giving it. When you stand in the well lit areas all you do is discourage clean fun - student partying.
What you're not doing is removing the real problem. The men who do and sell drugs. The homeless guys who smell awful and bother people for cash. The skulkers and lurkers and who knows who else that love the shadows and the camaraderie of the other assholes.
If I have to fight them one at a time with words or better I will do it. So back me up. I am unarmed officially and will still send any one or more of them to the hospital should they touch me first.
You're getting paid to serve and protect.
Do it!
Harass them gently until they never come back.
Don't do anything unConstitutional.
Just stand nearby and glare until they get the message. Get in their way of enjoying The Park. Ruin their high and interfere with their business and wake them up all night long!
Must I do it myself? If so don't arrest me for self-defense.

Do you think The Park is the showpiece it oughta be?
It's the premier American address for free expression. But a fourth of it is ruined because you can't figure out how to get rid of those guys
I am telling you here how to do it.
Invade their space. Don't let them think they own those walkways. Add lights and station perminantly until fixed several Rangers RIGHT THERE. All the time. Enforce the litering rules without handcuffs. Simply bother them unendingly. Gently but constantly.
I want them gone. You want them gone. Think of something. Decide it's going to be Disneyland in that corner and get it done.

I am speaking here of the boys. The homeless and/or drug addict girls are abused too by these same goons and could use your sympathy.
Help me get rid of those guys, please.
How: the large grassy area adjacent to "skid row". Take control of that. Hang out there. In groups. At night especially. Be boisterous and aggressive with your fun.
The cops and rangers will cover you since they're gonna be right there starting now. Your job is to add happy color to that deadly corner.

This is your future Congressman speaking and I guarantee that by the fall, even if I have to go it alone, all of WSP is going to be a fun, enjoyable place to relax and be youthful. Every inch is going to be needle free. Every bench is going to be unslept on. Every trash can is going to be used.
