AOC You Can't See, Anymore
Dear Congresswoman,
I am responding to your Times' guest essay about fixing the housing crisis:
(public readers: open that in an incognito window to view it for free)
Alexandria, you stopped being revolutionary when you let Nancy Pelosi become Speaker again in 2019. Because the you of "Knock Down the House" would agree with this:
Fix the housing crisis in a few simple steps:
1. Seize every acre of land over 10,000 owned by any person or entity. Ted Turner owns two million acres. That's more than the entite state of Deleware at 1.2 million plus the entire state of Rhode Island at 662,000.
You can google how the top six landowners in the US own 10,000,000 acres. Maryland the state is 12,000,000 acres.
"Buy land, they're not making it anymore," advised Mark Twain. The super-rich took his advice, to the detriment of everyone else.
Housing is expensive, reason #1, Congresswoman, because the land to put the housing on is expensive. And it's expensive because it's owned en mass by the 1% of the 1%.
How about The Homestead Act II, Alex? That's what people need.
2. Free land! For every American who wants some.
3. With real estate prices slashed, building affordable housing for everyone not interested in homesteading will be a lot cheaper.
4. Make the super-rich pay for that too. Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos etc. can afford to build a couple of million small homes. Mars can wait a minute.
Yes, Mlle Cortez, I know all that is "impossible" but that's only because you are a soldier for The Man and The Woman now. Back when you were all the rage, you would have agreed with me.
See you in 2027.
